Every year on August 15, the Prime Minister of India addresses the nation after unfurling the tricolor at the historic Red Fort in Delhi. Tricolor flag is hoisted in schools and government offices etc. National Anthem is sung. Patriotic songs are being played everywhere, cultural programs are being organised.

On Independence Day, the capital and all government buildings are decorated with colorful lights. On the eve of Independence Day, the President delivers an ‘Address to the Nation’ speech.

Many decades have passed since the country gained independence. India has made its mark all over the world in all fields. India has made a lot of progress in all fields including science, technology, economy, agriculture, education, literature, sports.

Being a nuclear capable country, India has made many achievements in the field of space. The success of Chandrayaan 2 is a big proof of this. India has made great strides in every field of development. The world is looking at India.

India recently performed brilliantly at the Olympics. India’s Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in javelin throw. Weight lifter Meerabai Chanu and wrestler Ravikumar Dahiya bagged silver medals.

Friends, it is also true that India is struggling with problems like crime, corruption, violence, Naxalism, terrorism, poverty, unemployment, illiteracy, even after many years of independence. We should all work together to end these problems. The dream of the freedom fighters will not come true until India is brought out of these problems. A united effort will lead to a better and developed India.

Having said this, I would like to conclude by thanking all of you for giving me the opportunity to speak. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.
